If you have ever looked for counselling or personal support in Ljubljana, you may have come across the term Transactional Analysis (TA). But what is this method, and why is it so useful for everyday life?

A short explanation of Transactional Analysis

Transactional Analysis is an approach to psychotherapy, counselling and personal development developed in the 1960s by psychiatrist Eric Berne. Its great strength is simplicity: it describes complex inner processes with clear, understandable concepts that can be applied immediately in real life.

At the heart of TA is the idea that each of us carries three ego states — Parent, Adult and Child. At any given moment we act from one of them, which shapes how we think, feel and respond to others.

Why is Transactional Analysis so effective?

TA does not stay at the level of theory. It offers concrete tools for understanding why we keep finding ourselves in the same patterns in certain situations — in relationships, at work, in the family. Once we recognise these patterns, we gain the power to change them.

The method is especially valuable for:

• understanding and improving relationships,
• overcoming anxiety and low self-esteem,
• recognising repeating life patterns,
• personal growth and clearer life decisions.

Who is Transactional Analysis for?

For everyone. You do not need prior experience with counselling or coaching. TA is a kind, respectful method built on a belief Berne summed up in the well-known phrase: "I'm OK — you're OK." The work is collaborative, and you are always at the centre of it.
